Thailand top car exporter to Antigua The state of Antigua and Barbuda, part of the Leeward Islands chain in the eastern Caribbean, is approximately 420 km (261 mi) SE of the US Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and 180 km (110 mi) N of the French overseas department of Guadeloupe. The total land area of 440 sq km (170 sq mi) includes Antigua (280 sq km/108 sq mi); Barbuda (161 sq km/62 sq mi); and uninhabited Redonda (1.3 sq km/5 sq mi), located 40 km (25 mi) to the SW. This total area comprises slightly less than 2.5 times the size of Washington, D.C. The total coastline is 153 km (95 mi). Antigua and Barbuda's capital city, St. John's, is located on the northwestern edge of the island of Antigua.

Antigua and Barbuda adheres to the common external tariff schedule of CARICOM; rates (which range up to 35%) are generally ad valorem, based on the cost, insurance, and freight value, and a wide range of goods is permitted duty-free entry. Additional special rates are applied for tobacco, cement, petroleum products, vans and trucks, and certain types of timber.

Antigua and Barbuda Customs Duty

Antigua and Barbuda's Customs Tariff is based on the Common External Tariff (CET) of the Caribbean Common Market. It employs a seven-digit nomenclature based on the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System (H.S.).

Antigua is a member of the Caribbean Community's (CARICOM) Common Market. Goods originating in CARICOM Member States receive CARICOM preferential treatment, and do not attract import duties once they satisfy agreed CARICOM rules of origin.

Customs Duty is around 60% of the value of the vehicle. Once your vehicle arrives, you will have to meet with Customs to begin the clearing process, first is the agreement on the value, then if it has a/c - it will need to be inspected, pay any fees (other than the duty) & get all the paperwork stamped by the various agencies. You will want to get all of this done as quickly as possible because the port is going to charge you for each day that the vehicle is in their possession. If the car is used you also have to pay an environmental tax.

Returning Antiguan

Nationals returning home who have been abroad for Ten years or longer will be regarded as Returning Nationals and are entitled to bring in one motor-car provided that the vehicle has been owned for at least 2 years.
